Chiropractic Care & Techniques
Chiropractic care restores position and movement to joints and surrounding soft tissue, using the technique that best suits your examination findings and comfort.
There is no single chiropractic technique that suits everyone. A young athlete with a stiff mid back and an older patient with osteoporosis need different approaches, and our doctors are trained in a range of methods so the treatment can fit the patient.
Techniques used at Chiropractic Works include full spine, Diversified, Thompson Drop, Cox Flexion Distraction, Arthrostim, Impulse IQ, Activator and S.O.T. Low-force instrument options mean effective care is available even when manual adjusting is not appropriate.
Who this treatment may be appropriate for
- Spinal and joint pain or restriction
- Recurring mechanical problems
- Patients seeking non-surgical, non-medication care
- Athletes, families and older adults
Important considerations & when not to proceed
- Fracture, infection, tumour, significant instability and some vascular conditions rule out adjusting at the affected site.
- Advanced osteoporosis, blood thinners, recent surgery and pregnancy call for modified technique — tell us so we can plan properly.

Frequently asked questions
Does an adjustment hurt?
Most patients describe relief rather than pain. Some feel mild soreness for a day after early visits, similar to after new exercise.
Can I choose a low-force technique?
Yes. Instrument-assisted and drop-table options are available and are used routinely for patients who prefer or require them.
How long is a typical visit?
First visits are longer because of the examination and report of findings. Follow-up treatment visits are shorter.
