Back Pain
Back pain has many causes, so care starts with an examination that identifies which joints, discs, muscles or movement patterns are involved — then a conservative plan aimed at that cause rather than the symptom alone.
Most people will experience back pain at some point. What differs is the source: a disc, a facet joint, a muscle that has been compensating for months, or a mix of all three. Our evaluation is intentionally thorough because the treatment that helps one pattern can be the wrong choice for another.
Chiropractic care restores position and movement to the joints and soft tissue of the spine. Because it is conservative and non-surgical, it is often a reasonable first step before more invasive options are considered. Where appropriate we combine adjusting with soft-tissue work, decompression, rehabilitative exercise and lifestyle changes that reduce the load on your back between visits.
Who this care is usually appropriate for
- Aching or stiffness in the lower or mid back
- Pain that worsens with sitting, bending or lifting
- Recurring episodes that resolve and return
- Back pain with referral into the hip, buttock or leg
Important considerations & when not to proceed
- Sudden weakness, numbness in the groin, or loss of bladder or bowel control is a medical emergency — seek immediate care.
- Recent significant trauma, unexplained weight loss, fever or a history of cancer or osteoporosis changes the plan and may require imaging or referral first.

Frequently asked questions
How many visits will I need for back pain?
It depends on how long the problem has been present and what is driving it. We give you a recommended plan with a review point rather than an open-ended schedule, and we adjust it based on how you respond.
Is chiropractic care safe for back pain?
For most people with mechanical back pain it is well tolerated. Some patients feel temporary soreness after early visits. We screen for the conditions where adjusting is not appropriate and choose a gentler technique or refer when needed.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can call the office or send a request and we will help you choose the right first appointment.

Sciatica
Sciatica is pain following the sciatic nerve into the buttock and leg; treatment depends on what is irritating the nerve — most often a disc, a narrowed canal or tight surrounding tissue.

A herniated disc occurs when the softer inner material of a spinal disc pushes through its outer wall and irritates nearby tissue or a nerve root; many cases improve with structured non-surgical care.

Spinal decompression uses a computer-controlled table to apply gentle, cyclic traction to a targeted spinal segment, reducing pressure within the disc so the surrounding tissue has a better environment to settle.
