Headaches & Migraines
Not all headaches are alike; identifying the type — tension, cervicogenic or migraine — determines whether neck-focused care, neurofeedback, lifestyle change or a combination is the right approach.
Headaches that start in the neck and shoulders often respond well to chiropractic care, because the joints and muscles referring the pain can be treated directly. Migraine is different: it involves the nervous system, and triggers such as sleep, stress, hydration, blood sugar and screen exposure carry more weight.
For patients who prefer to avoid ongoing medication, our BrainCore neurofeedback program offers a non-invasive option for tension and migraine headache patterns. We will tell you plainly which approach fits your presentation and what a realistic result looks like.
Who this care is usually appropriate for
- Headaches that begin at the base of the skull
- Frequent tension headaches
- Migraine with recognisable triggers
- Headaches alongside neck stiffness or jaw tension
Important considerations & when not to proceed
- A sudden, severe 'worst ever' headache, or one with fever, confusion, weakness or visual loss, requires emergency care.
- Headaches that change pattern, wake you from sleep or follow a head injury should be medically evaluated first.
This page is general education, not medical advice. If you have a medical emergency, call 911.
What happens at your visit

- 2Neck, jaw and neurological examination
- 3Discussion of chiropractic, neurofeedback or combined care
- 4A written plan with a review point
Frequently asked questions
Can chiropractic care help migraines?
Some migraine patients find their frequency drops when neck mechanics and muscle tension improve, but chiropractic care is not a cure for migraine. We are direct about what it can and cannot do for your presentation.
What is neurofeedback used for here?
It is used to train brainwave patterns and is one option we discuss for tension and migraine headaches, particularly for patients who want to reduce medication reliance.

Neck Pain
Neck pain is often a combination of joint restriction, muscle tension and sustained posture; care addresses all three rather than only the sore spot.

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive way of training brainwave patterns: a QEEG brain map identifies irregular patterns, and training sessions then use feedback to encourage more regulated activity.

Stress reduction here means practical tools — physical care for the tension it creates, sleep and breathing strategies, and neurofeedback where regulation is the main issue.
