What happens at your first chiropractic visit?
A first visit covers your history, an orthopaedic, neurological and movement examination, an explanation of what we found, and a plan with a defined number of visits and costs. Treatment often begins the same day when the findings support it.
Before you arrive
Allow a little longer than a routine appointment, wear clothing you can move in, and bring any recent imaging reports along with a list of medications and supplements.
The appointment itself
We start with the story of the problem — how it began, what makes it better or worse, and how it affects work, sleep and activity. The examination then tests joints, nerves and movement to find which structures are actually involved.
You will get a plain-language explanation of the findings, not a diagram and a sales pitch. If imaging or a referral is needed first, we will say so.
What you leave with
A recommendation, an expected number of visits and a review point, the costs explained up front, and usually one or two exercises to start at home.
- A clear explanation of the diagnosis
- A plan with a review point rather than an indefinite schedule
- Costs and any insurance details explained before you commit
- Simple home exercises where appropriate
Frequently asked questions
Will I be adjusted on the first visit?
Often, when the examination supports it. If findings suggest imaging or referral first, treatment waits until that is resolved.
How long does the first appointment take?
Longer than a routine visit. New patient appointment times vary, so we will confirm the length when you book.
